Internal Communications Officer (1,0 FTE)

We’re looking for a motivated Internal Communications Officer to help us engage our colleagues across the organization.
Your role: strengthen internal communication
As Internal Communications Officer, you’ll help create and distribute clear, engaging messages within the organization. You’ll drive internal communications projects, work on day-to-day content creation, and help make sure everyone stays informed. You’ll work on behalf of the Communications team and with other departments to bring our internal communication to life.
What you’ll do
- Develop and execute internal communication plans and campaigns
- Manage the intranet, info screen and internal news flow (content, design, publishing)
- Write and design internal newsletters and updates
- Photograph and document internal events and milestones
- Communicate internal changes and staff engagement initiatives
- Ensure clarity and consistency of internal messaging
- Maintain strong collaboration with other departments to align messaging
- Contribute to the development of internal visual and textual content
- Coordinate and execute science communication events
- Welcome newcomers in our newcomers meetings
- Participate in training sessions to enhance communication skills, tools proficiency and strategic alignment
- Guide colleagues on knowledge and best practices to strengthen internal communications culture and improve general communications skills
What we're looking for
- Strong writing and editing skills in English and Dutch
(basic knowledge of German is a plus) - A good eye for visual content (basic design and photography)
- Experience with tools like Photoshop, Canva, RapidMail and CMS platforms
- Hands-on experience with filming and editing straightforward short videos
for internal use - Comfortable working with different teams and asking questions when needed
- You enjoy organizing things and working with colleagues
- You’re curious, organized and eager to learn
- You have a bachelor's or master's degree in communications or a related field
- You have some working experience – it’s a plus if you’ve worked in a similar role

The salary is in accordance with the German collective labour agreement TVöD (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst) and is classified in salary group E9b. Depending on the experience of the applicant, the salary is between EUR 3.619,09 and EUR 4.029,91 gross per month (for full-time employment), plus a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross salary. This equates to EUR 46.903,41 - EUR 52.227,63 per year, including holiday allowance. Our offer contains a one-year contract with intention for permanent employment, pension scheme, 30 holidays and multiple training opportunities.
