Interested in pursuing a doctoral programme soon?
In addition to the IMPRS Fellowships, keep an eye out for other doctoral vacancies within the MPI and at our Radboud University partner institutes throughout the year. Language-focused PhD projects at the Centre for Language Studies and the Donders Institute may offer you the possibility to become part of our IMPRS -- ask the researcher about this explicitly. If in doubt, imprs [at] mpi.nl (subject: PhD%20and%20IMPRS) (let us know) who or which position you are considering to apply to.Do also check out the other IMPRSs and the newly established Max Planck Schools. There's bound to be something perfectly suited to your research interests. Learn more about how to apply for a PhD position at the Max Planck Society.
The following approach is recommended:
Get in touch with researchers whose work interests you to inquire about future doctoral positions. Researchers get particularly excited when prospective doctoral candidates approach them to talk about their (masters) research projects and interests, how these match the researcher's current interests, and share ideas for future experiments. If you clearly indicate which skills and knowledge you have and which you intend to acquire, and also when you intend to begin the programme, the researchers will be in a better position to inform you if they can help you to achieve your goals. When you come prepared with your inquiry, you're more likely to get an enthusiastic and helpful response from them.
