Asli Ozyurek Named 2025 Fellow of the Cognitive Science Society

Asli Ozyurek has been elected as one of the six 2025 Fellows of the Cognitive Science Society, a prestigious honor recognizing her groundbreaking contributions to Multimodal Language and its importance in understanding language and cognition.
Asli Ozyurek is one of the first Fellows from a non-Western background, marking a milestone for greater inclusion in the field.
Expressing her gratitude, Asli noted, “This recognition highlights the vital role of Multimodal Language in cognitive science and reflects growing acceptance of diverse perspectives. My mission is to see gestures and facial expressions embraced as central components of language and cognition, rather than being seen as peripheral.”
