Giacomo Bignardi wins Robert Francès Award
12 July 2024
We would like to congratulate Giacomo Bignardi on winning the Robert Francès Award for Most Outstanding Student Research Contribution from the International Association of Empirical Aesthetics (IAEA).
Bignardi received this prize for his presentation 'Distinct Genetic Pathways to Music Enjoyment' which he delivered at the 2024 Biennial Congress of the IAEA in Palma, Spain. In this presentation he provided compelling evidence that genetic differences between individuals partly contribute to the ability to experience pleasure from music. The jury highly rated his work 'in terms of its relevance for the field of empirical aesthetics, its originality and its quality'.
This project was born from a collaboration between the MPI for Psycholinguistics, MPI for Empirical Aesthetics, and Karolinska Institute and made possible by the Max Planck School of Cognition.
