Ercenur Ünal joined MLD as a Research Scientist.

Ercenur Ünal (Erce) obtained her PhD in Cognitive Psychology at the University of Delaware in 2016 and was a postdoc at Radboud University (CLS) and MPI between 2016-2018. Since then, she has been first an assistant and then an associate professor of psychology at Ozyegin University in her hometown, Istanbul, where she led her research group.

She works on the interface between language and other aspects of cognition using cross-linguistic, developmental, and multimodal approaches. She is particularly interested in the domains of event cognition and social cognition. She aims to understand which aspects of human cognition might be universally shared, which aspects might be shaped by cross-linguistic and cross-modal diversity, and how the relation between language and cognition might change throughout development.
