Newcomer: Martina Mellana
Martina Mellana is from Italy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Turin and is about to graduate with a Master’s in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Milan. In Italy, she worked as a speech therapist with adult patients with communication disorders, and she is currently involved in a research project to promote their social inclusion.
She has already been at the MPI twice as an intern and visiting master’s student, working on the use of gestures in people with aphasia, Alzheimer’s disease, and mild cognitive impairment. She will now be joining the Multimodal Language Department as a research assistant to continue working on multimodal communication in clinical populations.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, singing, spending time with family and friends, and walking in nature.
